Who are we?

Our Mission

To provide a welcoming community gathering space to support working-class Appalachians develop an expansive & practical knowledge-base for greater opportunity, safety, and wellness. Everyone is welcome at Clutch, so long as they conduct themselves in a spirit of kindness and cooperation, but we have a special emphasis on protecting and caring for the most vulnerable members of our community. We believe everyone deserves access to spaces where they can connect, build, and learn from their neighbors.

Our Founder

Clutch Academy was planned and developed by our local sex educator, abortion doula & bestie to all, Jessie. Seeing a need for both practical skills education and safe spaces for women and queer people in her community, she dedicated space in her boutique to assess the need & desire for a community-run programming.

After a year of personally funding the project with her wife, Vivienne, Clutch Academy 501(c)3 was launched in 2026 in an effort to garner support from the greater region & expand operations.
